Spirits of the Earth is an original high fantasy role-playing game set on the large and diverse world, focusing primarily on the lively continent of Le'raana. Here you will find exotic city-states and thriving kingdoms, miles of untamed wilderness to explore and untold adventures to discover. Here gather the highborn and low, the fettered and free, the innocent and corrupt, to tell their stories...
Since its creation on December 13, 2000, SotE has always been a community for writers, readers, artists, lurkers, and anyone who just wants to have some fun and immerse themselves in a fantasy world for a while. It’s a game that values interesting characters (animal and humanoid), engaging plots, OOC respect for other players, and a universal acceptance of players of all ages and skill levels. The focus is on story telling and the development characters and plots; there are no statistics or dice involved. This game isn't about who has the most powerful character on the site or not, nor is it about winning or losing, but it is about having free reign of your creativity, trying new things, and most importantly having fun!
What does this mean? It means that any plot goes, the sky’s the limit, and you are totally free to join any original character of any species, including those you have created.
The world itself is in a constant state of change and is always expanding. SotE is a game with a focus on world-building, and new locations are always being created; many have been created by the players themselves. It's a massive world, but don't worry; with our friendly members and welcoming community, it's impossible to get lost!
If you like Spirits of the Earth, you should check out its future self! Remnants of the Earth is a futuristic high fantasy game set in Spirits of the Earth's world--but 5000 years into the future. Here you'll find a lot of the same faces as on SotE as well as a lot of new ones, and as for the world? Well, things are different, that's for sure. Adela's a military dictatorship, Connlaoth's got cowboys, and Serendipity's in space! Check it out, and don't be intimidated by the sci-fi elements. If you're comfortable with a modern setting, you'll fit right in!
Timekeeping!Jan 26, 2012 - 4:01amWelp! People have asked about that little date up at the top of the forum that denotes a season, and we've finally decided to regulate it!
So here's how it'll work.
Time will be split into four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Three in-game months will equal one season, while six real-life months will equal one season.
So, essentially, one IRL year will equal two seasons (or six months) in game time. :3 Two IRL years will equal one in-game year.
We'll switch seasons every January 1st and every July 1st.
This will help keep people on the same page--and also ensure that festivals and special holidays can occur regularly instead of having to awkwardly guestimate when an appropriate time would be to introduce a reoccurring holiday/festival. And hey, characters can have birthdays and anniversaries now, even. ;D
You can play threads back in time as far as you like! (Though we ask that if you want to RP more than two seasons back, you use the Flashback boards. :3) We also ask that you do not RP too far ahead. You should only go so far as the end of the current season.
And that's about it! ^^ Hope that makes sense and if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Posted by: Rhi-Rhi | Comments: (0) A little reminderDec 29, 2011 - 1:47amHey everyone. So, just a reminder for all players, real world racial slurs aren't okay on SotE. They are utterly forbidden OOC and they don't exist IC, so shouldn't even be used then. And because there is some confusion about this, that does include the word gypsy. It's a racial slur against a number of people and is not okay to use. Really, in general, avoiding the Esmeralda "gypsy" stereotype should happen. It's insulting and not okay. We want to keep SotE a safe space for everyone ^__^ For more information, check out this handy sitePosted by: Rina | Comments: (1) The Thanksgiving Thread!Nov 24, 2011 - 6:45pmviewtopic.php?f=191&t=12595Please read the first post, and join in!
